The Versatility of a Card

The Versatility of a Card

The Versatility of a Card

This isn’t a long post, nor will I describe the process of a cardmaking technique but rather I wanted to share in this short entry how one card design can be used for more than one occasion.

This card was a commission, this particular client (and friend) often asks me for a few cards months before she actually needs them. Quite honestly, I forgot some of the details, like for which occasion was the card supposed to be...upss, I thought it was for Valentine’s Day but I wasn’t sure, so I gave her a couple of options.

I wanted to use the center part of the stamp to place the message, so using a round die I cut two pieces, one in vellum and the other one in a shimmery white cardstock in which I stamped “Thank you for Everything”. Then I stamped and die cut the word Happy and in a separate piece of cardstock, I stamped and heat embossed “Birthday”, and arranged them on the vellum.

I did not fix any of the messages on the card. I added double sided foam dots one each and left one of the protective film on the one sticky side so the client could peel it off and adhere the one she chooses.

As it turns out, it was meant to be a Mother’s Day card, and she decided to go for the “Thank you for Everything” which is quite fitting.

I think from now on, as long as it’s possible, I’ll give the option of more than one message to my commissioned works, clients might change their mind and give the cards to a different person or ocassion than they initially inteded.

By the way, working with this stamp was a joy, it came on a set with multiple message, the “Thank you for everything” was one of them. It’s from Studio Katia and you can find it here. If you’d like more details about this card, I’ll be happy to share more.
