Ok, so this must be my new thing, working with foils is really cool, there are several ways to create awesome cards (or anything else) using your foils. For these 2 cards I used different techniques with and without the laminator and using a variety of media.

For the main panel of both cards, I used stencils (stripes and mandala) and transfer gel. I placed my stencils where I wanted and with a spatula, carefully applied a generous layer of transfer gel, making sure all spaces were covered. Then with the same spatula, I removed the excess of gel. You set aside this and wait until the gel dries a bit, it becomes translucent and tacky to the touch.

Then the fun part, grab your foil with the pretty side up and add it to your piece of cardstock (the one with transfer gel), then fold a piece of printer or parchment paper, place your cardstock inside and run it through your laminator (folded side first). I used the longest heating setting to make sure I get all parts heated and covered. Then simply remove your cardstock from the paper, peel off the rest of foil and you should have the foil transferred onto your cardstock.

For the sentiments, I used this particular die cut from Simon Says Stamps that have the main message and a fairly large shadow. I die cut them on a piece of toner paper and added the foil (no need for transfer gel), then ran it through the laminator. I got the sentiment and the shadow both foiled. Then I die cut them again but on plain black cardstock, as you can see in the cards, I mixed and matched the sentiments and the shadows.

The stars were even easier, I simply used the die cut directly on a piece of double sided foam tape, peeled off one side, adhered the foil to it, pressed it a little bit and that was it, you end up with the foil transferred on the one sticky side of the shape.

Then putting the cards together was super simple as you can see, I added a piece of black cardstock to one and a grey cardstock to the other one as a base. I arranged the sentiments and the rest of embellishments and that was all.

Notice that I used three different ways to apply the foil, one of them didn’t require a laminator and the results were pretty cool, weren’t they?

I hope you give it a try and if you need any more tips don’t hesitate to contact me, I’m not an expert but I’ll be happy to help.
