Fall Florals for LDRS Creative

Fall Florals for LDRS Creative

Hello everyone!

During most of October, I’ve been focusing on creating Fall theme cards using stamps, dies and other materials which aren’t necessarily part of a Fall release. All with the idea of getting creative with products I already have by giving them a twist. That was the case of this particular stamp, impatiens are more of spring and summer flowers but by simply customizing the colour palette, it turned into a nice fall card.

I used my all time favourite technique of no-line watercolour using water based markers, regular watercolours and a bit of colour pencils to add details.

I started by stamping on smooth white cardstock with a water soluble ink on a neutral colour. I decided to work on each flower individually, starting with the markers, then adding more depth with the watercolour and details with the colour pencils. I used mustards, oranges, orangey-reds, browns and greens. Once it was all coloured, I splattered white gouache and brown ink all over the panel.

To be honest, this was not a fast process. However you don’t have to be so detailed, there are many ways in which watercoloring can be done a bit faster and still look very organic.

To me, this front panel was everything and I didn’t want to take much from it, so I decided for a small sentiment from the Garden’s Edge Slimline set stamped on vellum with gold embossing powder and die cut it with the Elegant Stitched Frames. Then, I lined two sizes of the same frames from gold cardstock, to get a thin frame to add around the sentiment. This is to give a more definition and weight to the vellum.

I trimmed the panel just a bit and adhered it on top of an ivory cardstock and that over a 6X6 cardbase. I placed the sentiment on the bottom right corner and added a couple of strings of golden twine under. And to finish it all off, some golden pearls.

Colouring this stamp was the most relaxing, almost therapeutic time. These warm colours are everything, even on a summer flower. I hope it inspires you to become creative with your off season stamps as well.

Take care,

Monica.
