Birthday Pastel

Birthday Pastel

Hello crafty friends. I’m very glad to be here again!

The name of today’s project is a bit of a game of words. Birthday Pastel means birthday cake in Spanish, but the name also refers to the colour scheme I used for this card, as it is done in pastel tones. It’s also the card I made for a young teacher who loves everything pastel!

Here are the instructions for this card:

  • Stamp the Mini Birthday Cake stamp in watercolour paper. Add white embossing powder and heat set it.

  • Colour with your favourite watercolour technique. This time I used my Tombow markers.

  • Use the matching Mini Birthday Cake die  to cut it and set aside.

  • In a piece of heavy cardstock (Neenah is my preferred choice) do some ink blending with Peacock Feathers and Picked Raspberries distress inks in ombre effect.

  • Run the inked piece of cardstock through the die cutting machine using the inside of the Mini Slimline Hearts cover die. You might want to cut another piece to layer up.

  • Die cut another piece of white cardstock using the outside frame of the Mini Slimline Hearts cover die and adhere it to a mini slimline cardbase.

  • Adhere the heart panel on top. Filled with clear glue the inside of some of the hearts and add some Chunky Sparkly Glitter.

  • Add now the Mini Birthday Cake to the panel.

  • Stamp your sentiment on black cardstock and add white embossing powder. I used a simple line from the Mom stamp set.

  • Finally added a few scattered pearls in pastel colours for extra dimension.

This card is simple but sweet. And also very fitting to the personality of the recipient of this particular card. Personally, the process of creating is so much better and enjoyable when we have someone in mind.

I hope you like the card and take inspiration from this project.

Thanks for reading and see you next time!
