Spring Roses. Hot Foil on Acetate

Spring Roses. Hot Foil on Acetate

Hello crafty friends,

Lately, I’ve been experimenting with hot foils on different mediums other than cardstock (I’ve spent several hours on this already..lol). I especially wanted to try acetate and vellum, and I thought the new Studio Katia’s foil plates were ideal to give this a try.

The process is exactly the same as you would do with your hot foil plates on cardstock; you just have to take note of the heat and time settings for your machine for acetate. I use a Gemini Hot Foil which suggests 15s of heating for acetate.Always follow the instructions of your machine to avoid damage and disappointment. Note that you have to use heat resistant acetate sheets. I tried using the Spring Roses foil plate on gold and bright pink foils. Both colours worked well and they were very noticeable on the acetate. I also took advantage of the left over foil to get a negative impression. Then I used the matching die to cut them out.

I decided to use the pink roses for a mini slimline shaker card and added a mix of Chunky Glitter and Crystal Rainbow Confetti inside. I stamped a sentiment from the set Sunshine of Hope on gold embossing powder and added a few iridescent bubbles..

The yellow is very simple too. I cut a piece of vanilla colour cardstock, inked the edges just a bit, and adhered it to an A2 card base. I trimmed a panel of 3 X 2” of white cardstock, splattered some gold watercolor and mounted the gold acetate roses in one corner. I stamped and heat embossed a sentiment from the Spring Roses stamp set and glued some gold pearls to finish it off.

Hot foiling is very satisfying and one can be very creative with it. I hope this inspires you to experiment with other foiling mediums and don't forget to share your experience with us.
