Ombre Botanical Hi

Hi everyone!

I’m glad to be back sharing my most recent work for Studio Katia. This is a simple yet nice project that you can make in a fairly short time.

I started by inking a piece of heavy cardstock using SK blending brushes from the top to the bottom with salvage patina, peacock feathers and lucky clover inks, in that order. I started with a light hand and went down applying a heavier layer.

After allowing the panel to dry well (you can use your heat embossing tool here), I then added a generous amount of antistatic powder and went ahead and stamped the image with the help of my stamping platform. This is important because if you miss any spots, you can replace the cardstock and stamp again. I used white embossing powder and heat set it. Once I was happy with the impression I added a bit more ink to the edges but still keeping the ombre look.

I chose a piece of similar colour cardstock and added a layer to a cardbase. I fussy cut the entire floral image and used a marker of the same colour family as the inks and coloured the edges of the image.

I stamped again the centre of the image on white heavy cardstock and cut out the word HI. And then added several layers of white embossing powder and heat set it every time. This gives a nice luster effect to the letters. I adhered it to the main panel using SK foam tape.

Finally, I added a few crystal bubbles and sequins to give a little sparkle. I also made another card using the same technique but in hot pink, and for this I used the Sunshine of Hope stamp set.

You can also watch a step by step video of this card.

I think this would qualify as a CAS card, and it’s a nice way to show that a card doesn’t need to be too complicated to be pretty.

I enjoyed this project very much and I hope it inspires you to create and to give it your own twist!

Thanks for visiting. See you next time!!!
