Embroidery 101

Embroidery 101

Embroidery is another passion of mine, hence the name of this blog and hopefully, you’ll see more of it over here. I almost always have an embroidery project in the making but since these take a bit longer than a card, I don’t share as much of them.

I’ve been doing hand embroidery since I was a young girl, only that in the recent years I’ve done more cross stitch and beading work. I have been wanting to start a project I got a couple of years ago, but I didn’t want to begin before practicing a bit. I grabbed this kit at a local stitching store, and I thought it was perfect to brush up some basics before taking on the more advanced project.

This kit from Kiriki Press came with almost everything you need. If you’ve done embroidery before, chances are that you have one (or a few) hoops and embroidery needles. That’s all you need to add. The instructions are accessible on their website, where you can find a file with detailed instructions to many stitches, not just the basic ones. You can download the file and keep it close to you for when you need help during the project. This particular kit is considered intermediate level, but they have beginner as well as advanced kits.

I am glad I found this kit and that I discovered Kiriki Press because of the helpful resources they offer through their online platform. I also like the fact that one can find their products locally and see the samplers and other projects they have. For some of us, seeing the physical product before purchasing it, it’s still important. Ah! and one more plus, this is a Canadian company which personally, I prefer to support.

Check out Stash Lounge in Inglewood, Calgary. They have gorgeous yarns and everything for the avid stitcher, including many classes.

Here is an extra photo of this project for you to take a closer look.
