Christmas Scene with Perfect Pearls
Christmas Scene Background with Perfect Pearls
Hello there!
I started already with my Christmas cards, I hope to make enough to not leave anybody out this year. Fingers crossed!
I recently watched a Jennifer McGuire’s video where she used shimmering powders in a few different ways and it inspired me to make these cards. This background stamp from Hero Arts happens to be perfect for the amount of details it has. One could, of course, just simply use embossing powder and heat set but I think the Perfect Pearls give a much nicer and delicate finish.
I chose a dark colour cardstock to get the most of the shimmering powder and treated it with anti-static powder before stamping. Then, I stamped the image on my cardstock using versamark ink, inking the stamp really well, you will not see much of the image at first. Then, with a soft brush I lightly grabbed some of the powder and brushed it on the cardstock, this process has to be repeated a few times until the entire cardstock is covered and the image is now visible. I carefully removed some of the extra powder with a paper towel. Perfect Pearls stay in the versamark ink because of the resin ingredient in them so they don’t really need anything else to set. You can see all the process in this short video:
To let this beautiful background stand out, I only added a ‘merry’ die cut in a similar colour as the background (I used a velvet textured cardstock) and I stamped and heat embossed the ‘Christmas’ on vellum, both die and stamp are part of a set from Gemini. I also added a bit of ribbon under the die cut to add more dimension. Finally, I added a few pearls and Stickles drops for that nice sparkle.
I got all the materials for these cards at my nearby crafting stores, something that I particularly like because I always prefer to support local businesses. Here are the links:
Thanks for reading thus far, I hope you enjoy it.
See you soon!
